What email address should I give?

Any valid email address is acceptable to us (referring to the email address to which the jobs newsletters will be sent). But we suggest that you don't give us your company email address or one that belongs to your employer because there might be some internal office rules that might be violated in your organization. Office emails are also stored in company servers. We suggest that you use one that you regularly use for your own personal use.

Why do I get an email asking me to click on a weblink?

This is part of our overall security format called 'double opt-in', which is an essential security step to ensure that no one includes or removes your email address without your permission or consent.

My email address has changed; how can I update my record in your database?

Why do I get duplicate copies of your jobs newsletter?

If you are getting 2 or more copies of the same issue of our jobs newseletter, that means your name is recorded twice in our database. Or maybe there are 2 different email addresses belonging to you that are recorded in our database. The way to handle this is to remove the 'extra' email addresses, using our 'quick unsub' tool (which is a webpage to quickly unsubscribe 1 or more email address). Simply click on the 'Update my record' link or simply click here.

Why is it that I unsubscribed sometime ago and then suddenly I found myself receiving your jobs newsletter again?

If you experienced this, we like to first apologize for the inconvenience caused. We like to state that once you unsubscribe, we do not intentionally put your name back into the list without your permission. We don't do that.

But this situation do really happens - accidentally or by mistake - due to the following 3 reasons: (1) Our database was damaged by viruses in late 2005 and when we reconstructed our database in September 2006, we included our old database files of 2004 and 2005 and those may have been outdated in the sense that your name was still included in those old databases, hence, you got re-included by mistake; (2) After we re-launched the online database in September 2006, we shifted to a new mailing list software which is more stable and powerful, and during that shift some of the email address removals were not captured, again by mistake; (3) You may have sent a removal request through this website but did not confirm it using your email. Because we use a 'double opt-out security format', we require members to confirm via email their removal requests.

To remedy this situation, please use our 'quick unsub tool' to quickly remove your email address from our database or simply click here.

Do you comply with the CAN-SPAM law?

Yes, we do. We strictly follow a procedure to ensure that only willing members are added to our database and we don't include an email address without the expressed permission of the owner of that email address. We follow a 'double opt-in security format', requiring the owner of an email address to click on a weblink, to ensure that no one includes an email address in our database without the permission of the owner of that email address. We also provide a quick and working 'unsubscribe link' at the bottom of all our jobs newsletters. When someone uses these single-click 'unsubscribe links', unsubscription is executed immediately. We also use clear and RFC-compliant headers in all our emails. Lastly, we provide adequate and clear instructions on how leave our list, and finally, we have editorial staff that stand ready to help anyone who are having troubles removing their emails from our database. (In such cases, if we receive an unsubscribe request, it is processed immediately - usually in less than one business day.)

If you want further information about our compliance with the CAN-SPAM law, please send a blank email to can-spam@devjobsmail.com Click here to return to top of this page

Why is it that I don't receive your jobs newsletters inspite of the fact that I already joined?

That is probably caused by the filtering mechanisms found in your mail server. For example, in Hotmail.com and Yahoo Mail, there are spam filtering mechanisms that divert some incoming emails into a spam mailbox. That diversion was caused by someone tagging our newsletter as spam which is not really correct. To remedy the situation, look into your spam or junk mailbox and look for the emails that came from us - with the subject line [DEVJOBS]. Transfer them to your Inbox and label them as 'not spam' so that any new arrivals from us will go straight to your Inbox. Hotmail, Yahoo mail and other mailservers have their own specific procedures on how to tag an email as 'not spam', so please follow those instructions correctly.

Can I include the email address of my friend or relative?

Yes, you may. But the owner of the email address you submitted must still confirm via email that he/she is willing to join the mailing list. This is to ensure that they are joining our list willingly.
