PLACE ASSIGNMENT: Skopje, Macedonia with travel to Albania, Kosovo, FRY, Bulgaria, Bosnia & Hercegovina

GEOGRAPHIC AOR: South East Europe incl: Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia & Hercegovina, Romania and Croatia

AGREEMENT LENGTH: One Year initially, with opportunities for long-term

SALARY: Competitive salary will be offered commensurate with education and experience

JOB DESCRIPTION: Candidate is responsible for growing the health portfolio in SEE in accordance with the Health Objectives of the Regional Strategic Plan. Priority sectoral areas include HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, Reproductive and Child Health. Also responsible for providing quality oversight to health-related programs in the region including food security, nutrition and water/sanitation.

Candidate is responsible for the coordination and submission of large-scale, technical USG grants (e.g. Child Survival) and will oversee the staff responsible for their implementation and management.

Candidate is responsible for increasing ARC as well as partner Red Cross Society capacity in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of public heath programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: MPH required. Minimum five years professional experience working a public health field, three years experience working in public health in a developing country with a humanitarian organization required. Ability to travel regionally up to 50% necessary. Strong track record in program planning and implementation, donor outreach, training and developing staff; strong written and verbal communication skills in English required; Albanian, Serbian or related languages helpful. Professional experience in developing and implementing behavior change communication strategies; experience in HIV/AIDs/STDs, reproductive and child health necessary.
