Save the Children, an international and US based relief and development organization that seeks to make positive and lasting changes in the lives of children worldwide, has an immediate opportunity for a Field Office Sponsorship Support Associate in its Westport, CT headquarters.  The Field Office Sponsorship Support Associate will work with Field Offices around he world to help improve Field Office sponsorship management by leading and conducting Field Office reviews, lending technical assistance and detailed policy guidance to field reports, implementing continuous quality improvement practices, responding to Field Office inquiries and providing training to Field Office sponsorship staff; and producing management reports on key sponsorship indicators.

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years experience in an office environment.  Effective technical/instructional writing skills.  Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks independently.  Strong leadership and communication, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.  Knowledge of ACESS/interrelational databases and excellent computer skills with solid knowledge of Microsoft software.  Fluency in Spanish, French and/or Portuguese preferred as is previous overseas travel or work experience.  Previous experience in multicultural environments required as is ability to travel internationally.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The International Research Institute for Climate Prediction (IRI), headquartered in Palisades, NY, seeks an outstanding individual to manage on-going or planned projects involving the use of climate information and seasonal forecasts to reduce food and livelihood security risks in the Greater Horn and southern Africa: two regions that are prone to climate-related disasters.  The work includes coordinating IRI research staff inputs and developing/maintaining collaborative relationships among relevant stakeholders to achieve project objectives.  Stakeholders range from local communities to national government agencies, regional institutions, collaborating researchers, development assistance agencies and interdisciplinary teamwork management in both academic and non-academic arenas.  Additional responsibilities include training and capacity-building activities, designing and organizing meetings and workshops, and oral and written reporting of project results; excellent written and verbal English skills essential. Depending on the applicant's experience, the position may offer opportunities to work in other geographic areas as well.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Candidates will have either a Ph.D. or an M.Sc in a relevant field such as geography, international relations, environment, economics, agriculture, water resources, rural sociology, anthropology, or gender studies.  Candidates with a Ph.D. must have at least two years of relevant experience in international development, preferably in Africa, while M.Sc candidates must have four years; and may also conduct strategic research in his/her areas of expertise, must be able to perform in international settings and skill in other relevant languages desirable. The successful candidate will travel and represent the IRI in the project regions, so must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the IRI and a strong commitment to the end-to-end process of using climate information to solve real-world problems. CONSERVATION FIELD DIRECTOR, Atherton, Queensland Earthwatch Institute

Earthwatch Institute seeks expressions of interest for a new position of Conservation Field Director for the Institute's new Rainforest to Reef Conservation Research Initiative, be based at the CSIRO Tropical Forest Research Centre. The Conservation Field Director will be responsible for liaison between Earthwatch Institute and the local partners, particularly CSIRO TFRC, and for developing, implementing and reviewing the research and conservation plan. Also expected to be directly involved in some of the field research and/or base-line monitoring activities.

Earthwatch Institute is an international, non-profit organization that promotes the sustainable conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage through support for scientific field research, conservation and public education.

REQUIREMENTS: PhD or equivalent research experience. Strong familiarity with conservation research, and ideally with local conservation issues in tropical North Queensland. Experience in community outreach and/or consensus-building. Significant experience managing budgets, teams of people, major projects and staff. EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: PEER REVIEW FOR THE CONDAMINE-BALONNE AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM HEALTH INTEGRATED MONITORING PROJECT Department of Natural Resources and Mines

The Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines is undertaking a research project that has been specifically designed to identify indicators of ecological condition that respond to an existing primary flow change gradient within the Condamine-Balonne catchment. Nested within the design is the evaluation of the response of indicators to an existing secondary landscape disturbance gradient, and to identify the relative magnitude of response to the two gradients. The information will be used to assist the Department to monitor and assess the effects of flow-related strategies outlined in the State's water resource plans.

It is now proposed to undertake a peer review of the project to date, assessing its scientific basis and approach, and to recommend any improvements. It is anticipated that this review should not take any more than 80 hours to complete.

The Blackwood Basin Group (Inc.) is the peak community based natural resource management group for the Blackwood River catchment and is funded by the Natural Heritage Trust. The Blackwood Basin Group manages several landholder incentives programs to assist and encourage landholders to change or improve land management practices.

The Blackwood Basin Group intends to develop an EMS Framework. A proposal has been developed for a pilot EMS implementation project to commence this, and the Blackwood Basin Group is currently in the process of seeking resources for this proposal.

We are seeking expressions of interest for suitably qualified consultants who have experience with developing EMS or certification systems who can assist us with preparation, implementation and training of the Blackwood EMS framework.
