JOB DESCRIPTION: The International Research
Institute for Climate Prediction (IRI), headquartered in
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Candidates will have either a Ph.D. or an M.Sc in a
relevant field such as geography, international relations, environment,
economics, agriculture, water resources, rural sociology, anthropology, or
gender studies. Candidates with a Ph.D.
must have at least two years of relevant experience in international
development, preferably in Africa, while M.Sc candidates must have four years;
and may also conduct strategic research in his/her areas of expertise, must be
able to perform in international settings and skill in other relevant languages
desirable. The successful candidate will travel and represent the IRI in the
project regions, so must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the IRI and a
strong commitment to the end-to-end process of using climate information to

and Peace (WCRP) is seeking candidates to fill the position of Grants Monitor
to serve as part of the senior staff team, pending approval of grant
application. This position will focus on
capacity building and organizational development among community and
faith-based organizations. The position would be based in
Specific Duties:
· Collaborate
with the Project Director and program staff in all aspects of the grant
management system, with particular responsibility for managing all capacity
building activities of faith-based organizations (FBOs);
· Responsible
for programmatic elements of the grants process including pre-award guidance,
programmatic reporting by grantees, review of grantee activities, support to
grantees in their preparation, reports, and management of all programmatic
elements of grant close out;
· Coordinate
full range of capacity building and technical assistance to FBOs receiving
awards, particularly in replicating and scaling up local programs;
· Develop
and improve processes for effective outcomes of small grants program, in
particular implementing a monitoring and evaluation strategy to assure that
subgrantee activities are consistent with strategic objectives on HIV/AIDS.
Qualifications_and_skills_required: Qualifications
and Experience:
§ This position
requires a BA/S or equivalent (MA/S preferred but not required) in education,
international development or related field and five years international
experience implementing integrated community development projects involving
civil society (preferably FBOs), local capacity building and /or rural
development.
§ A
minimum of five years experience working with NGOs in administering grants and
ensuring compliance with donor regulations and project objectives.
§ Experience
in designing and implementing capacity building activities/programs with
community-based organizations
§ Demonstrated
skills and experience in report writing and financial/budget management,
monitoring and evaluation, combined with strong individual and team management
skills and experience are essential.
§ Proven
experience working effectively and respectfully with FBO representatives is
required.
§ Effective
verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, prioritization
skills are necessary.
§ Demonstrated
attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work
independently and cooperatively with team members is required.
§ Language
