Job Description: In line with Child Aid’s mission of providing technical and organizational support in order to build capacity among its partner organizations, Child Aid places project coordinators in Mexico in Guatemala to work directly and intensively with local partners. 

The Guatemala Project Coordinator is responsible for developing and strengthening Child Aid’s two Guatemalan partner organizations, Proyecto Bibliotecas Guatemala (PROBIGUA) and Fundación para Desarrollo Integral de El Tejar (FUNDIT) with the ultimate goal of them becoming independent, self-sustaining organizations.  To this end, the Guatemala Project Coordinator will initiate, manage and train local staff in the range of organizational development activities including but not limited to, program development, fundraising, budgeting, project management, administration development and evaluation.

The Guatemala Project Coordinator will report to Child Aid Executive Director in Portland, Oregon.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Budget

 

(a)  With project directors, develop and manage annual organization budgets.

(b) Track and report use and efficacy of Child Aid funds in projects.

(c) 

General Fundraising 

 

(a)  Identify and develop relationships with U.S., Canadian and European for-profit companies, governmental aid agencies and non-governmental agencies with operations in Guatemala.

(b)

(c)  Work with Child Aid Executive Director to identify program needs and funding opportunities and research and write grant proposals accordingly.

(d)

Program

 

(a)  Work in concert with Child Aid’s partners in Guatemala to evaluate and expand the efficacy existing programs and projects, with the ultimate goal of program self-sufficiency. 

(b) Identify needs and conduct various trainings to capacitate local staff to manage and expand programs and activities to their fullest potential. 

(c)  Research feasibility and develop implementation plan for Child Aid-sponsored teacher-training program.

(d) Help to develop and implement a micro-enterprise as part of FUNDIT operations.

(e)  Research and identify viable communities in which to found Child Aid libraries.

(f)   Act as a liaison between project staff and directors and Child Aid staff and directors.

(g)  Serve as the in-country contact and host for project volunteers and Child Aid donors.

(h)  Monitor and evaluate efficacy of project programs and activities; develop and implement plans to grow Child Aid partner organizations and remedy administrative and programmatic issues. 

(i)    Perform follow-up civilities in communities that have received Child Aid books.

(j)    Facilitate continued development of Board of Directors to govern projects.

(k)  Submit monthly reports regarding project plans, activities and progress.

EXPERIENCE:

Two to four years’ hands-on experience developing small NGOs, preferably in Latin America.

*** Direct experience managing staff and working with a Board of Directors.

*** Fundraising, including grant writing and donor cultivation.

*** Strategic planning and/or annual organization planning.

HIV/AIDS Multisectoral Team Leader, USAID/Zambia Position located in Lusaka.  USAID/Zambia seeks a dynamic individual with strong technical, management and negotiation skills to lead a team of mission staff members in an expanded multisectoral HIV/AIDS program. The individual should have good interpersonal skills to work with all units in the Mission on issues regarding HIV/AIDS.  Incumbent she should have a strong understanding of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, especially as it is affecting all sectors of society.  The team leader will be expected to have team leadership skills, conflict management skills, program management experience, and experience with HIV/AIDS programs, including sectors outside of Health.  Incumbent will be expected to represent USAID and the U.S government at meetings with top government, collaborating, and civil society professionals.  The position requires good organizational skills and the ability to work across a number of topical and subject areas.  Skills for consensus-building across teams at different levels is essential. 

Educational Background and Skills:

Candidates with at least a Masters degree in development studies, management, communications, economics, education, health, social work, business, agriculture, law, natural/biological sciences, environmental studies or related fields are encouraged to apply. SUMMARY OF POSITION:


IREX seeks applicants for the position of Human Trafficking

Researcher. This is part of IREX's bid to administer USAID's program

Combating Human Trafficking in Central Asia (RFA Number DM122-03-

013). Per the RFA, "The primary objective of this activity is to

educate the public on the dangers of human trafficking, assist in

developing appropriate legislation to combat human trafficking and

provide protection services to trafficked victims through a

combination of information dissemination, technical assistance and

Applicants are solicited to work part-time (50% minimum) for one

year. The Researcher will work with perform an extensive assessment

of the human trafficking problem in Uzbekistan, under the guidance of

the Country Program Coordinator for Uzbekistan. While the position

will be based in Tashkent, it will involve significant travel within

Uzbekistan.


Positions are open to citizens of Central Asia and are contingent

upon funding.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:


- Develop the overall framework for the assessment along with the

Country Program Coordinator;

- Travel throughout Uzbekistan to interview local and international

NGOs, human rights activists, local government officials, and

scholars on the subject of trafficking;

- Provide weekly updates on progress of the assessment;

- Produce scheduled drafts of the assessment for editing and review

and produce a final assessment report by the end of the first program

year;


- Assist with developing strategy based on assessment findings;

- Ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of all work performed on

the assessment.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Candidates must be well organized, able to work independently,

skilled at handling multiple tasks, able to adhere to deadlines, and

willing to travel extensively. Other specific qualifications should

include at a minimum:


- Expertise in survey methodology and statistical analysis;

- Expertise on the phenomenon of international human trafficking

(gender, economic, corruption, and legal issues), especially in

Central Asia;

- Familiarity with civil society-strengthening or gender-focused

projects in Central Asia;

- Experience working on assessments for international aid or

development projects;

- Superior writing and editing skills;

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

- Knowledge of computers and relevant software (SPSS, MS Office,

Excel, etc.), ICT skills helpful;

- Fluency in English; Russian language ability a plus.

The National Women's Health Network, founded in 1975, was the first

feminist health group to utilize a national membership in support of

D.C.-based health activism. The Network advocates for federal
