Job description:

Freedom from Hunger, an international nonprofit development organization, is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for Latin America to lead a new regional collaboration strategy.  The Senior Technical Advisor will offer strategic thinking, direct business development, and coordinate and provide technical assistance to partner institutions in the region.  The successful applicant will coordinate and provide high-quality, microfinance- and education-related technical assistance and training to partner organization for the purpose of promoting and supporting high-performance, sustainable, integrated poverty lending and education services to poor women.

Qualifications and skills required:

Master's degree and a minimum of fives years experience in the microfinance sector, preferably with poverty lending programs.  Skills in adult education and significant training experience highly desirable.  Openness to integrated approach to service delivery essential.  Previous working experience in Latin America mandatory.  Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance in a north/south partnership dynamic and capacity to interact effectively with people of other cultures.  Ability to conduct business with efficiency, both orally and in writing, in Spanish and English, is required.  Excellent computer skills.  Willingness to travel approximately 35% of the time, mostly in Latin America.  Must be eligible to be employed in the U.S.

Starting date: Immediately

Salary range: negotiable, based on experience

Job description: Anatolian Artisans, a small non-profit organization based in Washington DC, seeks a business skills and entrepreneurship trainer for its projects in Turkey. Non-profit or for-profit companies interested in marketing the training program in Turkey may apply.

Anatolian Artisans specializes in:

·         Building the capacity of low income artisans to maximize their income generation through their existing skills by providing entrepreneurship and business skills training, and by linking them with markets in the US

·         Organizing conferences, exhibitions, seminars in the US to raise awareness about the artistic traditions in Turkey to create demand for cultural products

Opportunity for part-time and possibly full-time position available. Ability to travel required.  Responsibilities for this position include:

·         Preparation and delivery of the range of training of  trainers courses on Making Cents’ business skills and entrepreneurship curricula;

·         Meet and liaise with clients in order to assess training needs.  Prepare specific course outline and work with client to ensure that training needs are being meet;

·         Conduct follow-up with trainees to answer any questions and ensure that curricula are being implemented correctly and effectively; 

·         Respond to requests for additional training or facilitation.

·         Management and support of other trainers.

·         Work with the senior staff to adapt curriculum for the needs of Turkish artisans

·         Acting as Anatolian Artisans’ liaison officer when necessary.

Qualifications and skills required: Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s or Masters degree

·         At least three years relevant experience as a trainer, or in entrepreneurship or education field;

·         Possess a passion for training;

·         Strong experience using adult learning principles and experiential learning methodologies;

·         Experience working in the training sector in the field of micro enterprise and/or the field of  entrepreneurship;

·         Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in small teams;

·         Marketing and presentation skills preferred;

·         Ability to prioritize tasks and to work with short deadlines;

·         English language proficiency required

·         Companies specializing in business consultancy, capacity building and training.

Starting date: Mid-January 2004.

Job description: Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) is international consulting firm specializing in agriculture and agribusiness, environment and natural resources, finance and banking, enterprise development, economics and policy analysis, and public sector management and reform. We seek an individual to lead in the recruitment of development professionals, primarily for international assignments in transitional and developing countries.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Oversee and monitor a team of international recruiters including mentoring and training on the preparation and execution of high-priority recruitment efforts for donor-funded projects and proposals;

 

Coordinate with the Director of Recruitment on decisions of allocating necessary recruiting resources;

 

Serve as the representative for a team/teams of international recruiters throughout DAI/ Bethesda; including close collaboration with the technical staff in order to monitor and prepare for upcoming proposal efforts;

 

Provide corporate training to new DAI staff on recruitment policies, procedures, systems, and methods to protect DAI’s relationships with the consulting community.  Assist with training courses in recruitment, consultant database usage, effective interviewing, employee biographical data verification and salary negotiation; CV writing, proposal writing, reconnaissance and conducting local recruitment;

 

Travel to DAI projects prior to completion to ensure that project consultants become registered in consultant database.

 

Qualifications and skills required:

 

BA or MA in field related to business or international development;

 

4 to 6 years of professional work experience with at least 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience (preferably international);

 

Strong organizational skills;

 

Ability to multi-task;

 

Detail and deadline-oriented;

 

Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and training skills;

 

Ability to manage support staff;

 

Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, Internet;

 

Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations, World Bank, IDB and or ADB is preferred;

 

Fluent in English and second language preferable.
