Job description: Project Summary: Development Information Services (DIS) project is operated by the Academy for Educational Development under contract to the Agency for International Development. DIS provides information, analysis, technical assistance, and library services to USAID staff both in Washington and the field, as well as to USAID contractors and development partners. Under this project, the Asia and Near East Bureau (ANE) requires dissemination and analysis of development information in the Asia Near East region.

Position Summary: Under the technical direction of the ANE Bureau Outreach Coordinator, the Senior Web Design and Development Coordinator coordinates the design, development, and maintenance of the USAID Asia and Near East Bureau’s external and internal World Wide Web sites in support of the ANE Bureau's communication, outreach, and information management visions. The Senior Web Design and Development Coordinator provides proactive technical guidance in the application of new web technologies to support Bureau outreach and information management efforts.

Essential Job Functions:

Advises the ANE Bureau on how new web tools (streaming video, web databases, photo galleries, etc.) can be utilized and integrated into the web sites to support more effective and higher impact outreach, communication, and information management strategies.

Proposes and develops new features for the site (such as success story and photo library databases) to improve access to information.

Produces rapid prototypes of web sites to allow clients to make informed choices of technical options.

Develops and implements strategies, objectives, work plans, and timetables for developing the rapidly evolving and high visibility external and internal Asia and Near East Bureau web sites, using cutting edge technologies.

Provides regular and systematic reporting to the ANE  Bureau on progress made in developing, revising, and updating the architecture and content of the web site, usage statistics, and lessons learned while developing the site.

Proactively coordinates with other Asia and Near East Bureau staff to develop new content of the site, to meet the needs and concerns of the Bureau.

Identifies potential sources of information (both internal and external), especially for the country-specific and sector-specific sections of the web site.

Coordinates updates of web pages.

Travels to USAID/ANE missions to integrate USAID missions’ web presences with mission and ANE-wide outreach efforts, as requested by the ANE Bureau. 

Incorporates links to other Agency web resources related to USAID’s programs in Asia and the Near East

Ensures that the ANE site is in compliance with the latest Agency website standards and procedures. Works closely with the LPA ANE liaison and other LPA staff to stay up to date on LPA mandated changes in format, content, and procedures. Consults with the Agency’s Legislative and Public Affairs  (LPA) Office to obtain appropriate clearances for new material and updates.

Conducts extensive outreach within the Bureau to encourage the use of the site and the contribution of material to the site, and to ensure that the information remains up to date; demonstrates the Web site to ANE Bureau staff and their customers; provides training on the use of the site when requested.

Monitors information requests from site visitors and forwards them to appropriate ANE Bureau staff or contractors, or respond to requests when appropriate. Monitors the use of the website and compiles user data.

Conducts surveys of internal and external partners of the Asia and Near East Bureau as needed to determine the information needs of Agency staff and their customers.

Provides training and mentoring for other DIS web development staff as needed.

Assists with the development of other DIS client websites as needed. Specific Knowledge Requirements:

Continued education/training in Web programming, interface design, information design, or multimedia production is also helpful.

Minimum four to six years of experience designing and developing state of the art web sites, particularly in relation to supporting high visibility outreach and public relations efforts.

State of the art experience with Internet web page design, development, and management; dynamic and static HTML /Web editors and technologies; graphics preparation packages, and multimedia applications.

Experience with an international development organization and knowledge of the organization and operation of USAID preferred but not necessary. This job requires US Citizenship. This job will require a criminal background check.

Skills:

Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop prototype web pages/features to facilitate quick review, approval, and implementation.

Ability to creatively solve problems and advise on technological issues and trends.

Proactive, self-starter in developing web sites for large and diverse organizations.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to join CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics and Environment, London. CUTS (Consumer Unity & Trust Society) is a charitable organisation, with its headquarters in Jaipur, India, working at the local, national, regional and international levels, and has recently opened an office in London. The London office will coordinate and manage research and advocacy work on trade and economic issues and will also support other offices of CUTS by raising funds, organising events, etc. The organisation is concerned with the impact of international trade and economic regime on developing countries and advocates for the poor at different levels. The position will involve providing support for all these activities. Applicants must have experience in office administration.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

·Responsible for managing office administration, including accounts, etc.

·To provide administrative support to other staff (set-up and maintenance of the filing system, organising travel, events, etc).

·Manage office communications (written, electronic and telephonic); liaison work with funding agencies, CUTS offices in other countries, other organisations, individuals; dealing with enquiries, etc.

·To manage general administration, including safety-related issues, human resources-related issues, etc.

In addition to responsibilities outlined above, the post will occasionally entail duties outside the normal working hours, such as managing events, accompanying visitors, working to meet deadlines, etc. Flexibility and good humour are essential.

Qualifications and skills required:

·Fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of other European languages will be desirable. 

·Wide-ranging administrative skills (knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping work, knowledge of tax, social security and accounting maters as per the British law, IT skills, etc).

·Ability to prioritise competing tasks, even under pressure, in a methodical and systematic manner.

·Experience in working using her/his own initiative as well as working in a team.

·Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
