Mercy Corps is currently seeking a Finance and Administration Manager to be responsible for the financial and administrative management of the Mercy Corps Kyrgyzstan field office.

This position requires a BA/S or equivalent in accounting/finance, 6 years finance and management experience and 4 years experience in managing grants. Three years overseas experience is required and international NGO/PVO field office experience is preferred.  The qualified applicant must be in agreement with Mercy Corps values and policies; must have experience with advanced accounting, fund accounting, data processing and auditing; federal grants experience desired; must have "for profit" experience; and must have proven ability to work cooperatively with other staff in a "team" relationship. Demonstrated experience and skill with budget preparation and analysis, financial reporting preparation and presentation and the proven ability to translate technical financial data into informative reports is required.  Supervisory and management experience is also required. Mercy Corps is seeking a Program Manager to manage the implementation of the Mercy Corps Maluku operations which addresses the emergency & recovery needs of internally displaced & conflict affected people through the administration of grants to local NGOs. Since April 2001 Mercy Corps had funded over 180 local organizations for over 375 different projects, directly benefiting over 250,000 conflict-affected people. Mercy Corps Maluku takes an integrated approach when looking at the needs and resources of communities and through the local partners works in the areas of economic empowerment, shelter, water/sanitation, capacity building and peace building. The program consists of over 30 staff and three field offices with an annual budget of approximately $ 2 million.

This position requires a MA/S or equivalent in International Development or relevant field and 7 years international experience with an NGO is preferred.  Five years experience in administering economic development programs and capacity building is required. Experience of living and traveling in difficult conditions and a valid driver's license is essential. Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia and experience with driving in Asia is preferred.

Understanding of EU donor requirements and previous experience managing EU-funded programs is highly preferred.

COMMUNITY PEST PLANT FACILITATOR, West Gippsland, Victoria 0.5 FTE casual (flexible 20hrs/week) Central Gippsland Landcare Network

Through the State Government's Second Generation Landcare Program, the Central Gippsland Landcare Network is seeking to employ a community-based facilitator. The facilitator will be one of two Community Pest Plant Facilitators promoting better weed control on agricultural land in West Gippsland. The Facilitators work in close cooperation with the Latrobe Shire Environmental Officers, Department of Sustainability and Environment Catchment Management Officers, Landcare Groups and the community, educating and encouraging landholders to institute appropriate and coordinated control programs.

Applicants will need to demonstrate strong communication and negotiating skills and sound technical and practical experience in pest plant control. A current Victorian drivers' licence is essential.

The position is a 0.5 FTE casual (flexible 20hrs/week, with extra hours over peak weed season) contract from June 2003 till February 2004. The incumbent must be prepared to attend evening meetings and weekend activities as required, with time off in lieu of overtime taken within a fortnight of accrual.
