·        Meet and liaise with clients in order to assess training needs.  Prepare specific course outline and work with client to ensure that training needs are being meet;

·        Conduct follow-up with trainees to answer any questions and ensure that curricula are being implemented correctly and effectively; 

·        Respond to requests for additional training or facilitation.

·        Management and support of other trainers.

·        Work with the senior staff to innovate curriculum

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree, Masters degree preferred;

·        At least three years relevant experience as a trainer, or in the youth entrepreneurship or education field;

·        Possess a passion for training;

·        Strong experience using adult learning principles and experiential learning methodologies;

·        Experience working in the training sector in the field of microenterprise and/or the field of youth entrepreneurship;

·        Ability to work in a multicultural environment with at least one year overseas experience;

·        Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in small teams;

·        Marketing and presentation skills preferred;

·        Ability to prioritize tasks and to work with short deadlines;

ICA’s Culture of Participation Team

Today, ICA’s Technology of Participation® methods are one of the leading forces shaping the emerging professional field of facilitation around the world, not only in relation to local development efforts and coalitions, but also in organizational development, collaborations, companies, international development, government agencies and education.  Over the last few years this team of eight staff has increasingly focused its efforts in training and partnerships for transferring these skills from our staff and associates to practitioners and facilitators in many communities.  These efforts include a nationwide facilitator training system including core and advanced courses and the creation of the ToP Network, a qualified faculty of trainers around the country and internationally who deliver the training.  As one of four teams within the organization, The Culture of Participation Team equips organizations with participatory practices and processes that engage the commitment of their people to address the challenges of change. This team is playing a major role in developing a partnership to bring ToP methods to China in 2004 and is looking to develop additional innovative partnerships with other organizations.

About the DC office

The ICA office in DC is young (three years old), with a small staff (three), and strong potential for growth.  The primary foci of this office are: 1) ToP Training and Facilitation services, in particular with the federal government to leverage our MOBIS status.  2) Promoting Community and Youth Leadership programs within the communities of Washington, DC and Baltimore.  3) Leveraging relationships with International NGO’s and funding agencies to support the ICA’s international programs.  All programs are in a start-up phase within the District.  The ICA’s DC office invites a pioneering and persevering spirit. 

Responsibilities:

1.       Promote ICA’s Technology of Participation® facilitation methods training and facilitation services

a.       Create promotional opportunities to introduce ICA’s Technology of Participation facilitation methods and facilitation services

b.       Develop client relationships for facilitation and training opportunities

c.       Participate in professional organizations representing ICA

d.       Develop proposals to market to the federal government

2.       Co-coordinate the ICA’s Technology of Participation® facilitation methods training

a.       Co-train and co-facilitate courses and follow-up events

b.       Arrange course logistics

c.       Convene gatherings of course graduates and develop a follow-up system

Qualifications and skills required: Preferred Qualifications:
