POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Doctors of the World-USA seeks a Program Manager to develop and oversee its domestic programs providing assistance to torture survivors seeking asylum and medical advocacy services.  Duties include: recruitment/training of volunteers, preparation of funding proposals/reports, project design and representation and development/management of partner relations.  Requires experience in program management and development, grant writing, fiscal oversight, and public speaking.  Excellent written and oral English skills and IT proficiency (word, excel) required.  Knowledge of immigration, criminal justice preferred, along with experience in public health and health related advocacy. MPH preferred, JD a plus.

Job Purpose

To provide conceptual, technical and managerial expertise for the improvement of the ongoing as well as the development of the new Plan's child-centered water and sanitation program/projects, in co-operation with Plan colleagues, communities, families and partner organizations.

 

Major Responsibilities

1.       Strategy and Programming

·        Provide expertise for the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and follow-up of child-centered integrated water supply, hygiene promotion and environmental sanitation interventions;

·        Contribute to the development of strategy and policy papers on integrated water supply, hygiene promotion and environmental sanitation within Plan;

·        Develop concept notes, proposals and technical papers related to integrated water supply, hygiene promotion and environmental sanitation;

·        Assist with the preparation of reports to donors.

 

2.       Institutional and staff development

·        Participate in, and encourage the development of networks to increase the impacts of sustainable water and sanitation strategies and programs;

·        Promote and practice mutual organizational learning and sharing of information, ideas and experience on integrated water supply, hygiene promotion and environmental sanitation issues;

·        Participate in, and assist in the design and development/adaptation of training modules for the capacity building activities of Plan staff and partners on integrated water supply, hygiene promotion and environmental sanitation issues;

 

3.       Representation

·        Represent Plan on water supply, hygiene and sanitation issues to other water and sanitation institutions and organisations at a Country level;

·        Represent Plan Indonesia on water supply, hygiene and sanitation issues to other Plan Countries;

·        Develop/promote networks at Plan level and/or with partner organizations to support the Plan works on water supply, hygiene promotion and environmental sanitation interventions.

 

Qualifications

·        Degree (or equivalent) in Water supply and Sanitation Engineering/ Civil engineering with Water and Sanitation experience

 

Skills

·        Ability to communicate ideas

·        Strong management and leadership skills

·        Comfortable working as a member of a team

·        Sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse organization and region

·        Fluency in writing, reading and speaking English

·        Strong knowledge in the use of computer writing, tables, design, drawings and planning software.

 

Required Experience

·        At least 5 years experience at senior level in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of integrated WES program/projects, in rural areas, urban and periurban settlements with particular attention to the slums areas;

·        Experienced in the participatory design and implementation of software components related to WES;

·        Experienced in the integration of software and hardware components;

·        Experienced in representational roles at WES forums at national and regional levels;

·        Experienced in promoting and developing learning in WES.

 

Languages

·        Speaks, reads and writes English fluently;

·        Speaking, reading and writing in Mandarin will be an advantage.
