Grameen Foundation USA (www.gfusa.org), a non-profit organization  established to empower the world's poorest people to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity through access to financial services and information, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Vice-President for Programs based in its Washington, D.C. office. Working closely with the President, the VP-Programs will provide leadership, overall management and coordination of the foundation's work program involving 46 micro-finance partner institutions in 19 countries spanning Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin and North America. The VP-Programs will set the strategic direction and priorities of the department and will supervise and mentor the program team

(professional staff and volunteers) in their work with MFI partners, collaborating institutions, and donors. He or she will be a core member of the organization's senior management team, will work closely with the Board of Directors, and will represent the organization to external audiences and key stakeholders, including donors, investors, key volunteers, the media, and the micro-finance industry at large.

The primary responsibilities of the Vice-President for Programs include providing strategic direction for program staff and partners consistent with the organization's strategic plan; developing and monitoring annual work plan and budget; overseeing micro-finance partner selection and relationships; managing staff recruitment and performance evaluations; orchestrating funding requests and disbursements, partner monitoring, and periodic reports to donors; working with the Development Department in fund mobilization; and representing the programmatic interests at senior management and board meetings, to the industry at large, and in the media.

The ideal candidate would have at least 10 years of international experience in the field of microfinance (at least 5 years MF experience is required), including at least two years in a senior position with a practitioner organization (MFI); an advanced degree or equivalent in economics, finance, international development or allied fields; an excellent track record in a senior management position; strong organizational and strategic planning skills; and excellent communications skills (written and verbal).  Fluency in
