Job description: SNV Netherlands Development Organization in Nepal provides advice and management expertise to strengthen the capacity of partner organizations to work in reducing poverty, improving governance, and implementing pro-poor economic strategies for women and men. Knowledge, contacts and networking are the main assets through which SNV provides capacity strengthening services. SNV Nepal’s sectoral orientation is in governance, natural resource management and private sector development. Within private sector development (since 2004 called 'sub-sector market development') SNV Nepal focuses its services on micro and small enterprise development with special attention for pro-poor sustainable tourism and forest based enterprises. It supports the sub-sector pro-poor sustainable tourism through a focus on market development, which contributes to pro-poor sustainable economic development. It emphasises 'strategic choices', 'product development', 'marketing' and 'effective chain management' in this sub-sector. In SNV Nepal’s private sector development plan for 2003–2008 the goal and objectives for the PSD sector has been defined as: Enhancing the capacity of national and district level organizations to support groups and individuals to increase their benefits from micro and small enterprises – with special attention for pro-poor sustainable tourism and forest based enterprise. Objectives in pro-poor sustainable tourism development: Increase the benefits to groups and individuals from tourism related micro and small enterprises; Enhance the capacity of national and meso level institutions to stimulate and plan pro-poor sustainable development; His Majesties Government’s role in providing an enabling environment for pro-poor sustainable tourism development, through reviewing, formulating and implementing its policies and strategic planning is enhanced

Qualifications and skills required: Your main responsibilities will be:

• Capacity Strengthening of pro-poor sustainable tourism sub-sector clients and partners

• Positioning & Strategy Development • Gender Mainstreaming in pro-poor sustainable tourism

• Knowledge Development and Management

• Networking Requirements Education: Masters in Tourism (planning)/Forestry/Rural planning Experience: Minimum of 10 years working experience in developing countries in the field of sustainable tourism development Others: Experience and knowledge of key issues in development (gender, social inclusion, etc.); participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation; organisational strengthening and institutional development concepts and instruments will be an asset; English will be the official language; willingness to learn Nepali; computer skills.

Starting date: as soon as possible for 2 years

Salary range: minimum Euro 2536,00 – maximum Euro 3945,00 gross per month
