ICARDA is seeking for a Science Writer/Editor to be based at its headquarters in Aleppo, Syria. The incumbent will report to the Head of Communication, Documentation and Information Services (CODIS).


Responsibilities:

*        Write/edit and supervise production of both technical and non-technical publications related to the activities and achievements of ICARDA, including reports to donors

*        Help in organizing and managing press trips, press conferences and official meetings, and produce press releases, press briefings, backgrounds, magazine articles, posters, flyers and brochures

*        Arrange to give wider publicity to the Center's activities through radio and TV programs, and by participating in exhibitions and other public events

*        Regularly provide appropriate material for ICARDA's website

Secondary Education Manager - Aceh, Indonesia +b


A Secondary Education Manager will oversee the initial establishment of a primary education program in Save the Children's five areas of operation. These programs will focus on the 3-4 month pre-service training of primary

teachers and the development of follow up and in-service training.  S/he will coordinate closely with other managers within the education sector covering school reconstruction, distribution of materials, and the development of the school management committees. 


Responsibilities include liaising with the government and local teacher training institutes to develop a primary school training program; implement the primary school teacher program; in coordination with the Secondary School Program and their field officer, develop follow-up support;  collaborate with the Shelter Sector Head on the construction of the government allocated primary schools; and establish a system to monitor capacity building of teacher training. Psychosocial Manager - Aceh, Indonesia +b


A Psychosocial Manager to have overall operational responsibility for Save the Children's Psychosocial Structured Activities (PSSA) program in Aceh.
