Job description: The International Center for AIDS Care & Treatment Programs (ICAP)at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University, is seeking Pediatricians to work in several countries in Africa (South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, others).  Incumbents will work with ICAP clinicians and with local HIV care and treatment teams to guide the development of local ICAP programming for infants, children and teens.


He/she will also work with local and national ministries of health (MOH), NGOs, local partners and collaborating agencies to guide the development of national and local guidelines and policies for children with HIV. Perform site visits and site assessments of ICAP treatment facilities to insure and develop mechanisms to include pediatric services. Provide supervision and mentoring to ICAP clinicians around the care and antiretroviral treatment of infants, children and teens. Develop linkages with pMTCT programs to insure follow-up of HIV-exposed infant. Develop systems (laboratory and clinical) to institute early infant diagnostic testing at ICAP-affiliated sites. Institute programs to identify HIV-exposed and infected children including inpatient pediatric testing programs, pediatric HIV testing in adult clinics, linkages with OVC, etc.


Qualifications and skills required: Minimum Qualifications:

Advanced medical degree required (MD or equivalent). In addition candidate must have experience in developing-country health care programs. Fluency in spoken and written English.  Some travel to program sites in sub-Saharan Africa is required. Candidate should anticipate spending a significant amount of time at site and program visits.


Preferred Qualifications:

2 years experience with pediatric care and treatment including antiretroviral therapy.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job description: The Center for Good Governance (www.thecgg.org) is seeking a highly qualified, experienced Communications Advisor to serve as a long-term resident advisor with the Aceh and Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR) as part of an ongoing USAID-funded project.

The role of the BRR communications advisor will be to advise and assist the BRR with the following efforts:

-        Designing and producing a comprehensive communications strategy for BRR that includes components for mass communications, public outreach at all levels in Aceh and Nias, media and public relations, and donor and government communications.

-        Overseeing and assisting the implementation of this strategy and its component parts, working closely with BRR communications teams, stakeholder groups, and other advisors.

-        Coordinating BRR efforts with communications initiatives of other institutions, including donors, local and national government agencies, and NGOs.

-        Improving capacity, efficiency and overall performance of BRR communications staff.

Qualifications and skills required: The advisor will work out of the BRR office in Banda Aceh.  It is expected that this advisor will work for a period of at least one year, toward the end of which an assessment will be made whether to extend the assistance further.  Desired qualifications include the following:

-        Extensive experience in one or more aspects of communications, especially related to international development or relief and reconstruction.

-        Specific experience developing and implementing integrated communications strategies for an organization or agency preferred.

-        Minimum three years of overseas experience, preferably in a developing country context.

-        Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders, from high government officials to community members, as well as national and local media.

-        Extensive management and supervision experience, in particular within a communications or media-focused organization.

-        Willingness to work and live full-time in Aceh.

The University of Pittsburgh invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.  GSPIA is an internationally recognized center for teaching and research with masters and doctoral programs in International Affairs, Public Administration, and International Development.  Faculty in the school specialize in global/national and human security, international political economy and development policy, public and nonprofit/NGO management, urban and regional affairs, and public policy research and analysis. GSPIA also is responsible for oversight of undergraduate programs in public service, administration of justice and legal studies.
