description : Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI - www.cmi.no)
is an independent, non-profit research institution and a major international centre
in policy-oriented and applied development research. The institute has more than
40 researchers and an annual turnover of NOK 50 million. One of its major projects
is the web-based U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre (www.U4.no) serving governmental development
agencies in their anti-corruption efforts, through syntheses of literature and
project experiences, a professional help desk, information-sharing and training.
U4 is supported by
Chr.
Michelsen Institute has a vacant position as Project Coordinator at the U4 Anti-Corruption
Resource Centre. The position is initially for a period of 3 years. The U4 core
team at CMI currently consists of a Project Director, two Project Coordinators
and one Project Officer, plus a Researcher at Transparency International in charge
of a help desk. The new Project Coordinator will spearhead U4’s efforts in presenting
the most current and operationally-relevant knowledge in the field of anti-corruption
reform. She or he will actively assist U4 partner agencies in documenting and
communicating their experiences, with the ultimate goal of increasing the effectiveness
of development aid.
TASKS
The
Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:
-Research
and write concise guides (in both online and paper format) for development practitioners
on specific topics relevant to anti-corruption.
-Manage
U4’s online Essentials of Anti-Corruption course for U4 agency staff and external
partners.
-Help
organize and facilitate in-country anti-corruption workshops.
-Develop
content for a database on anti-corruption projects.
-Liaise
actively with agency practitioners to extract and share lessons learned from their
work.
-Edit
and update Helpdesk answers, in collaboration with the Helpdesk researcher at
TI.

Job
qualifications : QUALIFICATIONS
We
are looking for candidates with:
-Demonstrated
research and communication skills.
-No
less than a master’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. political science, economics,
anthropology, law, journalism).
-Previous
work experience (minimum 3-5 years) from a research institute/university, NGO,
international business organization or an international bi- or multilateral agency,
preferably related to development assistance.
-Experience
from conducting training activities is an advantage.
-Excellent
English language and computer skills. Fluency in French, Spanish or Arabic is
also an advantage.
-Ability
to take initiative and work well in a team.
-Good
networking skills are essential.

More than 2.5 million people in the Philippines were severely affected by a big typhoon. Thousands badly need food, shelter and clothes. As of October 2, 2009 6 a.m., the Philippine National Disaster Coordinating Council said more than half a million families of 2.50 million individuals have been affected by Typhoon Ondoy in 11 regions, including Metro Manila and the Calabarzon area in southern Luzon. A total of 686,699 people are now staying in 726 evacuation centers. The death toll has reached 277 and 42 were still missing.
