Position
Summary: MSI is recruiting for a
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Specialist with substantial experience in
finalizing and managing the implementation of M&E systems, including the
selection of indicators (USAID standard indicators and program-specific
indicators) and the finalization of Performance Monitoring Plans (PMPs). This
position will be based in Pretoria, South Africa.
Responsibilities:
Oversee M&E-related functions of the
Women Justice & Empowerment Initiative (WJEI);
Serve as resident technical advisor in
M&E;
Work closely with the WJEI team to
finalize and implement effective M&E systems and reporting;
Demonstrate professionalism and
leadership with local partners and target groups.
Qualifications:
3+ years experience designing/managing
M&E systems;
Experience working with the US Agency
for International Development (USAID) and other international donor agencies;
Experience with performance monitoring
for international development programs, including experience with performance
monitoring plans, research and design, performance indicators, causal linkages,
target setting, etc.
Strong written communication skills
(English);
Experience working with both public and
private sector agencies;
Ability to communicate and work well
with clients and stakeholders;
Knowledge of Gender Based Violence (GBV)
issues and programming preferred.

Project
Summary: MSI will is seeking a team for the completion of an assessment of
democracy and governance needs in Southern Africa, which includes:
The identification and analysis of key
regional DG issues;
An assessment of organizations and
institutions in the region with the mandate and capacity to address these
issues; and
Development of recommendations for a
regional DG program design.
The
team will pay particular attention to issues of: corruption, rule of law,
trafficking in persons, and democratic institutions and governance. Travel will occur in South Africa and to
selected locations in the region (Mozambique, Angola, Botswana, Zambia, DRC,
Zimbabwe, Namibia, Madagascar, and/or Malawi).
Responsibilities: The team leader will provide overall administrative
and technical leadership for the project and will be based in the US.
Qualifications:
10+ years experience in political science research
and/or democracy and governance programming;
Experience in assessing political
change, barriers to democratization and strategy development;
Experience in extractive industry based
corruption and/or trafficking in persons desirable;
Knowledge of the role of South Africa in
the region is critical;
Demonstrated experience in conducting a
DG assessment and preparing a final report strongly preferred;
Knowledge of USAID and particularly of
DCHA/DG policy guidance as it relates to the new Foreign Assistance Framework
Advanced degree in a relevant discipline
(social science, history, etc.)
Length
of Assignment: Project will last from
March 3 to 21, 2008 with the report due to be finalized in May; Level of Effort

Summary: MSI is seeking qualified individuals to assess election administration
in Southern Sudan. The purpose of the
assessment is to make recommendations to USAID for election administration
assistance for the CPA-mandated 2009 national elections and the 2011
referendums and popular consultations (southern Sudan referendum, Abyei referendum, & Southern Kordofan
and Blue Nile popular consultations).
The assessment will take place in March 2008.
Responsibilities:
Review project documentation prior to
travelling to Sudan;
Conduct field work in Southern Sudan for

Services are implementing this project. Over the first 5 years of
implementation, Katalyst grew to a well established
organization in Bangladesh and abroad. It is active in around 20 sectors, and
has around 60 professional staff and presently 6 expatriates.
Katalyst consists of a number of divisions active in:
Market Development of Generic Business Development Services,
like media and ICT;
Developing of urban Industries like furniture and health;
Developing rural agriculture in sectors like vegetables,
maize or fishery;
Improving the business Environment by working close to local
and national government institutions.

working conditions are cross-cutting issues and are included in the aforesaid

Overall Function:
The position is in charge of
the overall management of one of the main divisions of Katalyst,
including responsibility for personnel management, as well as the management of

The Industry & Rural

Male or female professional with an orientation in either:
economics, business development; industrial or agricultural economics or
regional and rural development.

achievements in a sometimes difficult environment.
An interest and familiarity with the most recent trends in
private sector and small enterprise development.
At least 5 years experience in an international agency in one
of the above mentioned related fields, out which 2 years at project manager/team
leader or at deputy level
Excellent English comprehension and expression.
Work experience in South Asia.

Overall function:
The main function of the position
is to coordinate and support the overall conceptual development and innovation
