decentralization process, crucial for adequate basic services delivery and

The
Netherlands Development Organisation SNV is working in 33 developing countries.
Its work emphasizes on poverty reduction through two key impact areas:
“Sustainable and Equitable Production, Income and Employment” (PIE), as well as
“Effective, Efficient and Increased Access to and Delivery of Basic Services”
(BASE). Governance is an important cross-cutting theme. Sustainability, gender
equity and social inclusion are key elements of good governance. SNV
contributes to poverty reduction by providing capacity strengthening services
to partner organisations in order to improve their performance, so they can
better make their own deliberate choices, deliver appropriate services to their
members and defend the interests of poor people.
In
the PIE impact area, SNV/Mali is supporting the development of three
agricultural sectors: ‘cotton’, ‘livestock/pastoralism’ and ‘oil seeds’. SNV
stimulates value chain development for products of different farming systems,
with a focus on improving access to markets for small holder farmers and
livestock keepers, on sustainable natural resource management and on better
supply of socio-economic services of rural households. SNV seeks to improve the
functioning of farmers’ organisations and rural service deliverers, to
stimulate farmer-induced economic projects and to develop alternative chains
(for cotton and other farm products). In current agricultural reorganization,
capacity development of farmers (in analysis, negotiation) is important for
securing the revenues and services, which especially the cotton sector has
delivered for a long time. SNV tries to influence agricultural policies, as
well as legislative environment in alliance with national stakeholders.

provide global leadership to WVI’s current portfolio of AIDS and Health grants
from the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB, & Malaria (GFATM), and lead its

near future become an important part of our activities.

West and
SNV
West and Central Africa works in eight countries:

core impact areas are:
- Access to basic services (BASE):
universal primary education, with a focus to quality and girls’ education,
water, sanitation and hygiene (

operations for those impacts are highly dependent on financing by the

Responsibility:
The
Partnership and Resources Mobilizations manager will work with the regional

country directors (CDs) and will report to the regional director (RD). He/she
will liaise closely with his/ her peers in the other 4 regions and with
relevant Head Office staff in the

Resource Mobilization
• Coordinate and facilitate the
implementation of the corporate partnership and resource mobilization policy
and procedures as well as represent WCA in all corporate PRM activities. This
will include support to public relations and communication initiatives to
enhance PRM;
• Support and coordinate with the regional
director, regional knowledge manager in BASE and PIE, the regional
communications officer and country directors to cultivate and solicit all major
donors, focusing on corporations and foundations, and multilateral and
bilateral organizations, along the sector and chain choices made in WCA. This
will require pro active mapping of potential sources of funds and an
appropriate tracking system;
• Draw up resource mobilization plans,
including budgets, with realistic targets and milestones;
• Support country programmes in verifying
a realistic resource mobilization target that enables country directors to
retain an equal balance between the impact areas and maintain a low cost of
advisory or primary process days;
• Make sure that the grant applications
and proposals are made as well as train and support others to do so for
foundations and corporations, as well as multilateral and bilateral
organizations;
• Work closely with the regional director,
regional knowledge manager in BASE and PIE, the communications officer and
country directors to nurture and develop new relationships with key stakeholders,
partners including foundations;
• Develop an effective donor track system
through ongoing market research.

Tropical Institute (KIT) is an independent centre of knowledge and expertise in
the areas of international and intercultural cooperation. KIT Development,
Policy & Practice is a department of KIT specializing in International
Health, Education, Social Development and Gender Equity and Sustainable
Economic Development. It is a multidisciplinary department conducting research,
post-graduate education and advisory work.
The Social Development and Gender Equity Area which
focuses on social equity especially gender equity, citizenship and rights in
development, and participatory governance is looking for a Social Development
and Gender Equity Advisor ( 38 hours/week)
We are looking for a colleague who will be able to
• Initiate
and carry out the writing of project proposals, consultancy assignments and
action research in the area of gender and development
• Contribute
to the development and implementation of gender and development training
programs
• Provide
support to designing and implementing of social development programs in developing
countries
• Assist
in the development of social development and gender networks
• Liaise
with donors and partners for acquisition of projects
• Assist
in contributing to the international gender and development debate through
participation in and organisation of workshops/seminars on key and emerging
issues.
• Contribute
to publications
• Provide
a meaningful contribution to the department’s policy development and priority
setting
Job qualifications : The
candidate should have
• Conceptual
and analytical skills
• Academic
qualifications in the social sciences – masters degree or PhD in anthropology; sociology; human geography; political
science and economics - preferably with a post-graduate gender and development
degree
• At least
five to eight years of practical experience in development – field research;
training; institutional development
• Knowledge
and practical experience of social science research: experience in action
research is an asset including action research
• Expertise
- knowledge of gender epistemology, methodologies and tools and in the social
dimensions of development
• Ability
to work with both government and non-government institutions
• Ability
to work independently on programme development including acquiring assignments;
writing project proposals; evaluating projects; undertaking advisory missions;
and writing analytical reports and recommendations
• Collegial
attitude and capacity to work within a team and maintain good working relations
with partners in the field
• Fluency
in English, both verbal and written essential - working knowledge of French
and/or Arabic is considered an additional advantage
• Preparedness
to travel regularly for periods up to two weeks
