Summary:

Position
Summary:
MSI
is seeking candidates for a DCOP position for an upcoming justice reform
project in Russia. DCOP will work closely with the Chief of Party to manage the
day-to-day implementation of the project, collaborate with Russian counterparts
and work closely with USAID. DCOP will report to and work under the Chief of
Party.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief of Party in the overall
oversight and implementation of the justice reform project;
Work closely with the Russian justice
system, judges, court administrators and lawyers to determine needs and build
capacity;
Ensure that the project is compliant
with USAID rules and regulations;
Direct supervision of short-term
technical assistance (STTA) providers;
Travel as needed to hold workshops and
meet with court officials outside of Moscow.
Job
qualifications : Qualifications:
A degree in law with at least 5 years
work experience practicing law or working in the field of international legal
development;
Native or near native fluency in both
Russian and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Prior experience working for USAID and
knowledge of USAID rules and regulations preferred;

analyst with strong experience in development planning processes, environmental

Technical Advisor for the Poverty & Environment Initiative (PEI) in Malawi.
Background
The
UNDP-UNEP supported PEI Malawi aims to enhance the contribution of the
sustainable management of natural resources to poverty reduction, sustainable
economic growth, food security and broader achievement of the Millennium
Development Goals. The PEI Malawi is led by the Ministry for Economic Planning
and Development (MEPD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands, Environment
and Natural Resources and several other Government institutions, UNDP Malawi and
the UNDP-UNEP PEI.
Key
responsibilities
The
Technical Advisor will provide advisory support to development and
implementation of the project activities, and share experience and
international good practises with MEPD and the
Government of Malawi within the field of mainstreaming poverty-environment
issues into national development policy-making, planning and budgeting
processes. S/he will be stationed at the MEPD, under the overall supervision of
the Director of Planning, and work in close collaboration with the National
Project Manager, PEI Malawi Technical Committee, UNDP Malawi and the UNDP-UNEP
PEI. Further, the Advisor will maintain links with development partners and the
international poverty and environment community.
Job
qualifications : Candidates should possess: a Masters degree in a development
or natural resources management related field; minimum of 7 years professional
experience in development and environment policy related field, including
experience in national development planning process; knowledge and working

The
Urban Institutes Center on International Development and Governance has an
immediate opening for a Senior Research Associate. (This UI center was known as
the International Activities Center until July 2008)
The
Senior Research Associate (SRA) will be responsible for designing, implementing
and evaluating research and technical assistance projects related to
democratization, economic and social development in developing world. The SRA will be a leader in the Urban
Institutes initiatives addressing one or more of the areas of:
decentralization and local governance, performance management, urban development,
intergovernmental cooperation, anti-corruption activities, municipal finance,
infrastructure, public service delivery, legislative, policy and institutional
reform, local economic development, and civil society strengthening for civic
engagement.
The
SRA will assist and take the lead in writing proposals for additional project
funding; help manage projects; and mentor staff overseas and in the home office
in Washington, DC. The job will require
international travel of up to 25% of time.
More
specifically, the Senior Research Associate will be expected to:
1. Develop and lead research or technical
assistance projects.
2. Work with project teams to develop
evidence-based approaches to policy formulation and implementation.
3. Disseminate results of research and
projects to developing country counterparts and peers in written and other
formats.
4. Contribute to UI knowledge management,
communications and external relations
5. Contribute to managing the budget, staff,
schedule, and substantive reporting for selected program activities
6. Write technical
proposals for funding for programs and research from USAID, the World Bank,
foundations, and other bilateral and multi-lateral donors
7. Contribute to recruiting, mentoring, and
developing relationships with donor contacts and partner organizations.
Job
qualifications : The ideal candidate will have a
minimum of 10 years experience in international development. He/she will hold
at least a Masters degree or Ph.D. (preferred) in Economics, Law, Public
Administration, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or other social sciences.
Candidate
must have:
Experience in conducting research and translating that into technical
assistance, training, and advice to governments in developing countries
Excellent analytical ability
Demonstrated success in fundraising from foundations and other donors.
Experience in conducting trainings and workshops.
Successful project and budget management skills, excellent sponsor relationship
skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Preferred
skills include:
Survey design and analysis
Fluency in Spanish, French, Arabic,
Urdu, Russian or other languages
The

We seek an experienced professional who will deliver
on SNV ambitions to leverage and diversify our financial resources in WCA. The
2008 regional target of Euro 3 Million is already met. The Development Manager
is expected to attract a minimum of Euro 5 million annually in 2009 increasing
to Euro 8 Million in 2015.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the regional director (RD), the Regional
Fundraising Manager is a member of the regional management team. S/he will
liaise closely with peers in the other 4 SNV regions and with relevant Head
Office staff in the Netherlands. This position will focus on creating a
long-range fundraising plan for the region and updating it yearly; cultivating
and soliciting donors, instituting a public-relations program; organizing
appropriate staff training; maintaining fundraising records; writing and
sending fundraising applications; sending follow up notes or overseeing that
task; reporting to large donors on specific projects; and visiting major
donors. This will require understanding of donor requirements and assessing
compatibility with SNVs values, mission, strategy and policies.
Key responsibilities:
1. Resource Mobilization
Lead the
development of regional fundraising strategies and draft regional fundraising
plans, including budgets (in close collaboration with the Regional Controller),
with realistic targets and milestones, in line with SNV mission and policies
Map,
cultivate and solicit relevant donors, focusing on multilateral and bilateral
organizations, corporations, foundations, and private funders in cooperation
with senior regional staff and country directors
Drive
the development of regional branding and PR
Inspire,
coach and organise appropriate training for key staff engaged in fundraising
Maintain
efficient administration of regional fundraising initiatives: oversee an
effective donor management system, write proposals, develop effective donor
relations communication tools, ensure proper reporting and compliance
2. Knowledge Development and Strategic Planning
Nurture
strong links with knowledge development networks to profile SNV and the WCA
region
Oversee
and analyze research to identify new sources of funding
Stay
abreast of philanthropic, economic , social and
community trends related to SNV in collaboration with the regional knowledge
managers
Ensure
that SNV staff, partners and clients in the region are informed of trends and
initiatives that might impact on the programmes and strategic positioning
choices of the organization
Regular travel within and outside of the region is
