Position Summary:

Management Systems International/MSI (www.msiworldwide.com), an international development consulting firm based in Washington DC, is recruiting for a Security Sector Reform Specialist with substantial experience in international civil-military relations. This position will be based in Washington, DC with some potential short-term, international travel.

Responsibilities:

·        Provide periodic, short term consulting services over a span of three years in security sector reform;

·        Duties include delivering technical assistance, conducting studies/assessments, writing reports, and leading workshops related to security sector reform;

·        Serve as a technical advisor in security sector reform, with an emphasis on international civil-military relations;

·        Demonstrate professionalism in working with US Government stakeholders and international donors.

Job qualifications : Qualifications:

·        MA or PhD in international security, public policy, or related area required;

·        Minimum of 3 years experience working with security actors in international settings (PhD-level candidates) OR minimum of 6 years experience (MA-level candidates);

·        Experience designing, managing or overseeing international civil-military relations programs for senior foreign government or US officials preferred;

·        Skills in legislative drafting, administrative reform, strategic planning a plus;

·        2 years experience conducting related programs overseas.

·        Experience working with a wide range of US Government stakeholders, including the Depart of State and Department of Defense) preferred;

·        Ability to work with minimal guidance and handle tight deadlines;
