Job
Description: The Director of the Initiative Against Trafficking in Persons
assists advocates and NGOs by building their advocacy, legal, and networking
skills in order to encourage governments to combat trafficking, to prosecute
traffickers, and to incorporate human rights standards into protective measures
for trafficked persons. The Initiative
also increases awareness of the links between trafficking and the subordinate status
of women and other vulnerable groups.
The Director will partner with local groups in Central America and
Mexico in the design and implementation of projects that build local capacity,
promote regional networking, and facilitate information- and resource-sharing
opportunities. The Director will monitor
and participate in anti-trafficking efforts in the Organization of American
States (OAS) and the United Nations. The
Director will also explore opportunities for future capacity-building work in
other regions.
The
Director will also lead the active collaboration of the Initiative with other
Global Rights‘¦ programs and offices elsewhere in the world. The Trafficking Director reports to Global
Rights‘¦ Director of Programs and communicates regularly with all other
department directors of the organization and its Executive Director.
Key
duties will include:
« Developing strong links and collaborative
work with human rights, legal, social justice and academic communities, and
other program stakeholders.
« Representing Global Rights in human rights
networks.
« Monitoring developments within the
relevant UN and Inter-American mechanisms and sharing information and skills
with partner organizations.
« Designing training activities and
educational materials.
« Implementing training workshops and
related capacity building activities.
« Developing advocacy strategies with
partners using a human rights framework and facilitating communication between
partner groups and their international counterparts.
« Development of annual work plans, budgets
and concept papers. Managing implementation of activities in collaboration with
other staff, and monitoring and revising budget projections.
« Ensuring program impact and effectiveness,
and preparing related reports.
« Assisting the development of proposals and
reports to donors.
« Preparing communication pieces about the
Trafficking Initiative‘¦s work.

Job
Description: The Country Director is the chief representative of Global Rights
in the DRC, responsible for leading the organizations work, developing its
vision, and overseeing the pursuit of Global Rights mission. S/he is responsible for the supervision of
all local staff, including the management of executive, program,
communications, fundraising, financial, and administrative functions. S/he will also lead the active collaboration
of the DRC office with other Global Rights offices elsewhere in the
world. The Country Director reports to
the Director of Programs, based at the international headquarters, and
communicates regularly with all other department directors of the organization
and the Executive Director.
Key

East Southern Africa is actively involved in value chain financing. To
strengthen this core service offering, SNV has strategically positioned itself
with some of the world leading fund managers (Small Assistance Enterprise Fund,

through enhancing clients capacity to benefit from growth and equity
investments in selected value chains.
While
the various funds in the market have specific themes, SNVs main focus will be
to design interventions that maximize impact. Examples of themes include:

Market symmetry: warehouses, input supply and business service providers
(Microfinance, Vets, Agronomy, Fertilizers, Leasing Companies)

seek an experienced professional who will deliver on SNV ambitions to leverage
and diversify investment opportunities with our clients.
SUMMARY
OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting
to the Head of Economic Development, East and Southern Africa, the Investment
Advisor will work with the regional economic development team. S/he will liaise
closely with peers in the other 9 SNV countries of East and Southern Africa and
with relevant Head Office staff in the Netherlands. This position will focus on
creating a long-range pipeline of investment opportunities in the region and
updating it yearly; cultivating and soliciting investors, fund managers,
instituting a public-relations program; organizing appropriate staff training;
maintaining investment records; writing and sending investment applications;
sending follow up notes or overseeing that task; reporting to large fund
managers on specific projects; and visiting major businesses invested in. This
will require understanding of investment fund requirements, local investment
authority incentives and assessing compatibility with SNV values, mission,
strategy and policies.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Marketing and pipeline development
The
advisors will:
implement this service in our chosen
geographical and sector value chain;
be the lead in facilitating investment
proposals, Technical Assistance (TA) to management of the SMEs;
be the lead in feeding these ideas to
fund managers for presentation to the investment committee;
co-lead the marketing side of the fund
with fund managers. Fund managers will lead, with support from SNV locally, all
advertisement and placements of ads for applications.
2.
Basic Analysis
The advisors will be required to prepare
appropriate dossiers for independent scrutiny by the funds investment analysts.
3.
Projections
The advisors will produce multi-year
projections on investments. This includes first class business plans and other
basics of running a business in an emerging economy.
4.
Risk Management
The advisors will need to perform
beneficiary risk assessments;
The advisors will play a role in
managing risks on the beneficiary side through its investment officers.
5.
Distillation and dissemination of learning
The advisors will play a role in this
service and align with internal SNV delivery channels (Knowledge Management and
Brokering);
Supporting Account Managers in partner
countries.
