Position
Summary:
MSI
is looking for a short-term consultant with expertise in the monitoring of
security sectors, particularly with regard to public appropriations and
expenditure. The consultant will travel
to the Philippines for up to two weeks, arriving on/about September 16, to
provide training and technical assistance to NGOs.
*Assignment
Duration: The assignment duration is approximately 12 days, including
preparation, travel, days in country, and reporting
writing. Dates are approximately 15-26
September.*
Responsibilities:
• Pre-travel assistance to MSI’s local
training partner organization in the design of a training workshop on security
sector budget monitoring;
• Conduct one day of the workshop, with an
emphasis on international best practices in monitoring of government budgets
for the security sector, in a participatory manner;
• Provide tailored technical assistance to
interested NGOs following the training;
• Write a brief report (no more than 5
pages) on your assignment.
Job
qualifications : Qualifications:
• Experience in monitoring/auditing of
national government security sector budgets;
• Experience in working in national
government security sector agencies;
• MA/PhD in relevant field;
• Experience training in technical sector
in international setting;
• English speaking and writing skills;
• Experience working with government
national government ministries.

Project/Proposal
Summary:
MSI
is seeking an experienced Editor familiar with government contracts and the
international development industry to review proposals on a contract
basis. The Editor will work closely with
the Business Development Unit, Technical Writers and other proposal team
members. S/he will primarily
telecommute; however, D.C. area candidates are preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Review MSI proposals and edit for
consistency, flow, tense, logic, punctuation and content (where appropriate);
• The Editor may also be asked on occasion

Job description : The Center for Conservation and Government
(CCG) at Conservation International (CI)is seeking a Climate Policy Manager to
serve as a key partner for climate policy for the International Policy Program
and Indigenous and Traditional Peoples Program. The Center for Conservation and
Government promotes innovative solutions that enable governments to take
critical actions to conserve biodiversity, strategically targeting the issues
and audiences that will have the greatest impact on biodiversity
conservation. Specifically, the
Indigenous and Traditional Peoples Program works directly with CI programs and
partners, local leaders, communities, conservationists and other critical
players in building a common agenda for the conservation of biological and
cultural diversity. A common thread and high-profile issue of strategic
importance for CCG is climate change.
The Climate Policy
Manager for Adaptation and Communities will work with CI\'s multi-disciplinary
climate change team and CI’s field programs to implement two core components of
CI\'s dynamic climate change strategy to avoid dangerous anthropogenic climate
change and resulting global biodiversity loss and the devastating impacts on
human welfare. She/he will coordinate CI\'s efforts to develop and communicate
climate change policies that promote the potential of ecosystem-based
adaptation strategies in CI core areas of focus. She/he will also be
responsible for coordinating CI\'s engagement with development agencies and
indigenous peoples’ organizations on climate policy. In this capacity the
Manager will represent Conservation International at international climate
meetings and events. The successful candidate will lead these efforts
exercising independent judgment and flexibility with the ability to interact
and collaborate in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic policy
support: Support the development and advancement of a focused international
climate change policy strategy to promote the incentives and implementation of
activities to protect and restore valuable ecosystems and to ensure effective
participation and representation of indigenous and local peoples in the climate
policy forum.
- Outreach and
coalition-building: Engage with climate negotiators, leading indigenous peoples organizations, and stakeholders from developing and
industrialized countries including NGOs, inter-governmental agencies, and
multi- and bilateral institutions to collaborate toward strong support for
nature-based adaptation activities and for provisions to secure the rights and
equal benefit distribution for indigenous peoples. Educate policy makers and
opinion leaders on the climate adaptation opportunities presented by protection
and restoration of ecosystems and the important role that indigenous and local
communities provide in successful climate solutions.
- Policy solutions
and influence: Through coordination with experts across CI and in partner
organizations, contribute to the development of solutions to ensure adequate
participation, rights and benefits distribution of climate policies for
indigenous and local communities. Research and analyze trends and issues
related to climate change adaptation with a focus on indigenous peoples and
local communities.
- Capacity building
and training: In collaboration with key stakeholders, contribute to the design
and implementation of regional and national level capacity building programs
and events for indigenous organizations on climate change mitigation and
adaptation policies and mechanisms.
Provide strategic advice and support to CI field programs to effectively
advance the international climate change policy debate.
- Fundraising:
Contribute to proposal writing and process and other fundraising initiatives
and activities.
Working Conditions:
Position requires approximately 33% international travel.
Job qualifications : Required Skills:
- Master’s degree
in international relations, public policy, social sciences, natural resource
management, or related field and 2-3 years related experience or equivalent
combination
- Fluency in
written and spoken English required, with strong writing and communication
skills
- Knowledge of
international policies related to climate change and related political, social,
and economic conditions and issues
- Understanding of

Province) and in Maroua, covering the Extreme-North
Province. In each area, multidisciplinary teams of advisors provide Capacity
Development Services to local NGO producers and governmental organisations amongst others.
SNV
seeks to influence a positive and lasting improvement of poor people’s
livelihoods through the development of market value chains (namely Timber and
Non Timber Forest Products [NTFP] and pastoral livestock & bi-products) and
access to basic services, namely drinking water and quality primary health
care. In the latter sector, our aim is to help achieve significant increase of
access to quality health services with a special focus on governance and equity
issues. To reach these objectives we work on capacity building of local
organizations, governance issues and we seek to bridge the micro-macro divide.

Advisor in Pastoral Livestock. The successful candidate will play a significant
national advisory role as Pastoralism Thematic Leader
(30% of the time) as well as provide technical advice and support to local
actors, local communities and tribes for; improved interaction of service users
and providers, more efficient planning and services governance for overall
improved quality equity and social inclusion of local communities in the
Province.
MAIN
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides thematic leadership to pastoral
livestock issues of the Cameroon country programme
• Supports team and partners’ knowledge of pastoral livestock
and their various levels of implementation and progress
• Reinforces local actors’ capacities so
as to enable and monitor progress towards the MDG pastoral goals

and local actors to get a better understanding of micro and macro economic
issues affecting populations in the Extreme North Province
