Successful PACTAM deployees share the ethos of Australian Volunteers International.

Key objectives of these important roles are to improve accessibility and condition of biomedical equipment resources throughout the Pacific and to increase the capacity of Pacific Island countries to manage biomedical equipment. biomedical staff and technicians to manage, repair and maintain medical equipment. You are a 'can do' person who can turn your hand to a wide range of activities stretching from theatre to x-ray maintenance, prepared to travel extensively to outer islands and other Pacific Islands on a regular basis.

Develop national guidelines for biomedical equipment management. Provide and recommend in service training for medical, nursing and health staff. Handle performance, safety testing, repair, maintenance of medical, laboratory and x-ray equipment.

* Your extensive experience in maintenance and repair of a wide range of biomedical equipment and electronics and relevant qualifications

* Your demonstrated success in sharing your knowledge with team members to gain one of these stimulating assignments.

* Your experience in providing training activities for resident medical staff medical students, postgraduate and undergraduate nurses.

* Your previous experience living and working in the Pacific, developing countries and/or remote communities and proven track record working with staff from those countries.

The allowances package includes $86,500 plus housing allowance, relocation, airfares and insurance.

This position is part of the Pacific Technical Assistance Mechanism (PACTAM), which places highly-skilled deployees in the Pacific to assist local employers to meet their human resource needs and contribute to building capacity in the workplace.

Project/Proposal Summary:  
The overall objective of the 3-year Improved Economic Opportunities for Paraguayans Program is to quickly and cost-effectively produce more value-added to agricultural products, goods and services, create jobs, increase incomes, reduce poverty and promote trade by adopting a demand-driven assistance strategy.

Position Summary:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will use qualitative and quantitative skills in assignments that clarify the intended results of the program.  Position will be based in Asuncion but travel to field offices will be required.

Responsibilities:
. The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist shall establish and manage a monitoring and evaluation system to track progress towards meeting program/contract results, indicators and targets.  
. The individual shall implement the methodologies proposed by the Contractor to measure the programs impact on poverty reduction, gender relations, and other areas required by the contract.

Job qualifications :

. At minimum, a Bachelor's Degree required in the social sciences or a related field.
. At least 6 years designing, monitoring and evaluation programs.
. Demonstrated success and experience in monitoring results and indicators of development and economic programs.
. The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist shall be fluent in English and Spanish.
. All necessary computer and analytical skills, particularly in issues related to monitoring and evaluation, required.

Project/Proposal Summary:  
MSI was recently awarded a three-year contract with USAID/Sudan. The Services Under Program and Project Offices for Results Tracking (SUPPORT) program is responsible for executing functions associated with the Mission's Program and Communications offices. As a part of the SUPPORT program, MSI is currently establishing an office compound suitable for USAID and partner meetings in Southern Sudan, hiring technical and support staff and facilitating VIP visits. Position Summary:
The Evaluation Team Leader will lead an evaluation of USAID Support to the Juba Urban Water Corporation (UWC), managed by the Louis Berger Group.   This is a short term technical assignment. The individual will work closely with the USAID/MSI WASH Advisor and the USAID/Sudan Program Office. The duration of the project is short term (approximately three weeks in the field).


Responsibilities:
. Lead the evaluation team, ensuring an excellent evaluation process and an excellent evaluation report;
. Work under the joint direction of MSI's Chief of Party and USAID/Sudan's Program Office;
. Take full responsibility for de-briefing of the findings, conclusions, and recommendations, and producing the final report.  

Job qualifications : . Direct experience in conducting evaluations for USAID-funded projects;
. Good understanding of USAID strategy, programming and implementation activities;
. Advanced degree in, evaluation, public/private management, international development, public policy, quantitative analysis, or related field;
. Willing and able to travel to Juba, Sudan;
.
. Ability to function as a collaborative team member under challenging conditions;
. This position is a short term position, starting in the beginning of August 2009.
