MSI
was awarded a three-year contract with USAID/Sudan on a project named SUPPORT
(Services Under Program and Project Offices for Results Tracking), and tasked
with the responsibility of executing functions normally associated with
USAID’s Program and Communications
offices. As a part of the SUPPORT

and partner meetings in Southern Sudan, hiring technical and support staff and

Position
Summary:
MSI
is seeking a full time Activity Manager (AM) to manage the day-to-day
activities, coordinate meetings for improved development partner coordination
and monitor progress and deliverables on behalf of the USAID BRIDGE team to
ensure US assistance is being used appropriately for BRIDGE intended purposes.
The MSI Activity Manager (AM) for BRIDGE programs in southern Sudan will work
as a full member of the USAID BRIDGE Team and provide support for the
monitoring and oversight of Winrock BRIDGE program
and activities in southern Sudan. Key to this will be frequent field visits to
gain an understanding of implementation challenges and opportunities. The AM will be expected to be an expert in
her/his field and serve as a technical and programmatic expert for activities
related to stabilization, gender equality, decentralization and local
government delivery of basic services, economic opportunities and tangible
peace dividends, (i.e. economic opportunities, increased food security,
agribusiness and marketing, education, primary health care, water, sanitation
and hygiene, and conflict management).
BRIDGE will help to improve the relationship between local government
and constituent communities, The AM will provide technical input into the
BRIDGE program collect and disseminate information to all USAID technical team
members to increase skills and competencies in the design, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation of the southern Sudan BRIDGE program. The AM will be
providing advise on the BRIDGE portfolio in Southern Sudan and in relation to
the North South border region.. This will require
constant interaction with USAID team leaders and partners. The AM will ensure
that all internal USAID reporting and documentation is provided in a timely
manner and will take the lead on responding to requests from USAID for
information.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as technical and programmatic
resource person for the southern States of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap, and Unity. Work closely with and provide technical
leadership to the USAID BRIDGE Team, and relevant mission staff on crosscutting
issues, particularly economic livelihoods, education, health, water, sanitation
and hygiene, governance, conflict management, and gender.
• Provide oversight and input to partner
activities, periodic monitoring of BRIDGE activities, undertake site visits,
participate in official meetings, and review deliverables for acceptance. Assist in tracking quality of performance
data. Identify any problem areas and develop plans for corrective action.
• Coordinate with government officials and
development partners to avoid duplication of activities. Strengthen and forge
new relations, when required, between other USG agencies, development partners,
NGOs, cooperating and implementing agencies and host-country collaborators.
Actively participate in meetings and joint activities between the BRIDGE team,
USAID, and relevant government officials, other donors and the U.S. Embassy
• Develop required USAID documentation,
such as BRIDGE input for the operational plan and performance report, activity
approval or amendment documentation as needed, weekly bullets and success
stories. Review project work plans and
quarterly reports, performance monitoring plans and targets, environmental
management and mitigation plans and environmental review forms. Support the
BRIDGE team and the USAID Mission in developing post 2011 and southern Sudan
strategies and interventions.
• Provide input regarding annual resource
requirements and budgets, track expenditures for selected activities and
earmarks and ensure all financial reporting such as quarterly accruals and
provided in a timely manner.
• Actively participate in team building
and strengthening activities.
• Attend technical conferences and
meetings, as necessary.

in her/his field.
• Ability to serve as a technical and
programmatic expert for activities related to stabilization, gender equality,
decentralization, transition from emergency to development programming,
capacity building and local government delivery of basic services, including
economic opportunities and tangible peace dividends.
• Masters degree with at least five years
of experience in the core program areas and experience in post conflict
situations is required.
• Experience in southern Sudan and with
USAID is highly desirable.
